Elliot Minichella will miss the rest of the Betfred Super League season.

Hull KR have revealed that loose forward Elliot Minchella will miss the rest of the season after sustaining a serious knee injury against St Helens on Thursday (St Helens 15/8 fav – Betfred Super League Grand Final Winner).

Minchella joined KR in 2020 after a stint with Bradford Bulls and his importance to the Robins was demonstrated ahead of the 2021 term when he was promoted to vice-captain.

The 25-year-old, who had started both of Hull KR’s games this campaign, limped off in the closing stages of the heavy 25-0 defeat to defending champions Saints in the Betfred Super League.

He was one of three players to have picked up an injury on a hugely frustrating night as Korbin Sims and Matty Storton were forced off due to head injuries.

Hull KR said in a statement: “Following scans on his knee, the club can confirm that Elliot Minchella will miss the remainder of the season with an ACL injury.

“The club’s physio and rehabilitation staff will be working closely with Elliot to ensure a full and speedy recovery.”

The Humberside outfit have lost both of their opening fixtures this term, also going down at the hands of Catalans Dragons, but will have the opportunity to bounce back when they play host to Castleford Tigers in the third round of the Challenge Cup on April 9.

Hull KR are 7/2 to finish bottom of the Betfred Super League.
