Carlo Ancelotti says Everton must do all they can to reproduce their fine away form at home – starting with Monday night’s visit of Southampton to Goodison Park (Everton 21/20, Southampton 11/4, draw 5/2).

The Toffees have an excellent record on the road in the Premier League season and had registered memorable wins over the likes of Tottenham, Leicester and Wolves before finally winning at Anfield against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby last weekend.

The 2-0 success at the home of the Blues’ local rivals was their first win there since 1999 and their first derby victory in any competition since 2010, but Ancelotti is more concerned with ensuring the victory will be followed up by a similar performance when Saints visit Goodison.

The Everton boss told the club’s match programme: “There were too many times this season when we were not good enough in home matches and our work since we won at Anfield was focused on correcting this issue.

“It is difficult to understand because away we have been really strong, playing with spirit and personality and some quality to win a lot of points.”

Ancelotti admits without fans in attendance it has made their job harder at home but he admits it’s the same for every team this season.

He added: “We would not have lost so many games at Goodison with our fans, I am certain of that. But this is not the only reason and it is the same for all the teams. While the situation remains like this, with no supporters in stadiums, we must find a solution.”

Everton (8/1 – Top 4 finish) can move back level on points with Liverpool – who are sixth in the table and two points adrift of the top four – with a win over Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, as they attempt to stay in the mix to finish in the Champions League places this term.

Ancelotti will hope to welcome back Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Allan into his starting line-up after they were both named on the bench at Anfield last time following their recoveries from injury, but Yerry Mina and Jean-Philippe Gbamin remain out.
