Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says his players need to bounce back from successive defeats when they host Leicester City in the Premier League on Monday (Match odds – Palace 11/4, Draw 5/2, Leicester evens).
The Eagles have dropped to 14th in the league table after failing to win any of their last four matches.
Following draws against Tottenham and West Ham, Hodgson’s side have conceded ten goals in defeats to Liverpool and Aston Villa.
Their last home win came against Leeds at the start of November and Palace are now starting to look over their shoulder towards the bottom three (Palace 5/1 – to be relegated).
For now, they are seven points clear of 18th-placed Fulham, while Leicester can climb into second with a win, for the time being, with rivals Everton playing later in the day.
The likes of Nathaniel Clyne, James Tomkins and Jairo Riedewald are all pushing for recalls, and Hodgson says his team need to repay the fans.
He told reporters: “You can always lose two games in a row in this league. I don’t think I’m that concerned that we are a particularly inconsistent team that doesn’t have a clear idea of what they should be doing. But it’s a question of results, and the last two results have been very bad ones.
“We really need to get back to a level that we showed quite early on in the season that has been missing – I don’t want to say for two games because Liverpool was very special – but certainly (against Villa).”
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has hinted that he may rest striker Jamie Vardy, while defender Caglar Soyuncu is available after overcoming a groin injury.
