Who’s our fav to be crowned King (or Queen) of the Castle?

One more day to go. On Friday night we’ll know who is to be the King, or Queen, for 2020. Not of the Jungle, of course, but of Gwrych Castle, North Wales.

Just four campmates remain, and it’s no surprise really to see who we have jostling (maybe that should be jousting), for the top spot.

Early-doors fav Shane Ritchie is there. ‘Course he is. Southern charm, ready wit, a wealth of showbusiness experience, and anecdotes to spare.

One of the first to challenge Shane for favouritism and indeed supplant him in the early days has also made it to the sharp-end – DJ Jordan North.

Lovely bloke. Came in scared of his own shadow but will leave as the hero of many a trial – and quite possibly Burnley’s most famous current devotee (admirers of Corrie’s ‘Chesney,’ Sam Aston, England pace bowler Jimmy Anderson, Snoop Dogg, and Alistair Campbell, might possibly disagree).

Only one of the ladies has made it through to the final quartet – Giovanna Fletcher. A smile to die for, and a kindly, loving heart the size of Bala Lake. The other half of McFly’s Tom Fletcher, I’m thinking G’s agent will be inundated with offers the moment she’s out of there.

Last but not least – Vernon Kay, professional northerner, Mr Tess Daly, and another who has covered himself in glory during his time within those castle walls. More showbiz anecdotes (Brad Pitt no less), unfailing good humour, and plenty of intestinal fortitude shown during the trials.

So – who’s your winner?

Latest Betfred outright odds at time of writing are as follows – there can be fluctuations, but the links will always take you to the very latest prices; Jordan North Evens; Giovanna Fletcher 13/8; Vernon Kay 8/1; Shane Ritchie 10/1.

I said as much the other day, and it’s well worth repeating. In such a crazy, calamitous year, I’m a Celeb has provided some most welcome, old-school, light-hearted, family entertainment.

Everyone has pulled together. Mutual support has been the key – a mirror as to how the majority of people have attempted to cope with, and comprehend, these most challenging of times in a wider context.

I believe tonight we’ll see a castle version of the annual ‘Cyclone’ treat – and courtesy of the ITV show’s marvellous Twitter presence, here’s a little taster of what’s to come. Enjoy!
