The main event on Friday sees 2,000 Guineas winner Kameko take on Benbatl in the Shadwell Joel Stakes at Newmarket, while there are also meetings at Uttoxeter, Haydock and Newcastle and action from Listowel and Dundalk in Ireland.
Undoubtedly the highlight of the day on day two of the Cambridgeshire Meeting is the 15:35 at HQ when Kameko and last year’s winner Benbatl are expected to fight it out for the Group Two Shadwell Joel Stakes.
Benbatl (9/4) won this contest comfortably last year, but Kameko (11/4) is a huge threat to the Godolphin-owned horse making it back-to-back victories. Kameko has failed to follow up his June 2,000 Guineas victory, finishing fourth in The Derby, the Sussex Stakes and the Juddmonte International since, but a return to Newmarket should bring out the best in him.
There are seven races in total at Newmarket today, with the action starting at 13:15 and the final race is due off at 16:45.
As well as the aforementioned feature, the Group 2 Shadwell Rockfel Stakes (15:00) stands out, where Isabella Giles (15/8) and Monday (5/4) are the leading contenders, while six, including 2/1 favorite Loxley, line up for the Listed Eqtidaar Godolphin Stakes at 16:10.
Betfred are running their ‘Extra Place’ promotion across the day on several races, including the second at Newmarket at 13:50. Cloak Of Spirits (7/2) is among the leading fancies for this Listed Tasleet British EBF Rosemary Stakes, while Bounce The Blues (4/1) and Ummalnar (6/1) will also hope to be in contention.
Elsewhere, Uttoxeter starts the day off at 12:30 and there are eight races there with the concluding contest at 16:20, while the meeting at Haydock gets underway at 14:15 and finishes with the 17:35.
The all-weather meeting at Newcastle starts at 16:15 and there are nine races in the north east until the 20:30.
Over in Ireland today, the Harvest Festival continues at Listowel where there are seven races (14:05-17:25) and the all-weather meeting at Dundalk also takes place, with eight races spread out between 16:40 and 20:15.
