Leeds Rhinos winger Tom Briscoe has stressed the importance of bouncing back when they take on Salford Red Devils in the Betfred Super League on Saturday (Match betting – Leeds Rhinos 8/11, draw 25/1, Salford Red Devils 6/5).
The West Yorkshire giants moved to the top of the standings after earning an extra-time victory over Huddersfield Giants when the season restarted on August 2.
However, they haven’t been able to build on that victory and currently sit sixth following successive defeats to St Helens and Wigan Warriors.
Rhinos’ 28-10 loss to Wigan came on August 16 and they have been left to stew on that feeling for almost two weeks as they gear up to face last season’s beaten Grand Finalists Salford next.
Despite a disappointing run of results, Leeds (14/1 – Grand Final winner) are only two points shy of the top four and Briscoe, who returned from a 52-week lay off for the loss to Saints on August 9, wants to see them get back on track this weekend.
Briscoe said: “Obviously the [Saints] game wasn’t good. There were a few areas improved [against Wigan], but nowhere near good enough. We know we need to be on top of everything this week, I think more just for our confidence.
“We don’t want too many [poor] performances otherwise it is a downward spiral and tough to get out of. We know we need to change things about.
“We have had two weeks to prepare for this so there’s no excuses this week.”
