Betfred are 8/1 that City win the Champions League AND United win the Europa League!

And that incredible double is very much on, with Manchester’s big two favourites with us for each of the two European competitions.

Thanks to lockdown these prestigious tournaments are still being played, albeit in a different format at the height of summer.

First up in what – even as a big Red – I admit is by far the lesser competition is United v Copenhagen tonight in Germany.

The Reds are 2/9 to win, with their Danish opponents 12/1 – while the score I’m predicting, 3-1 to us, is 10/1 at Betfred.

As a star player Our Baby Faced Assassin was a six-time title winner, twice lifted the  FA Cup, and of course played a key part in the 1999 treble.

Well I hope it’s not just bluster when he declared that lifting a trophy as a manager would be the proudest moment of his career.

The lacklustre performance with some rusty-looking squad players turning out against Lask in the second leg of the last round at Old Trafford didn’t give me the impression that this league is what United want to win at all costs.

Now it’s winner takes all and tonight and I reckon we’ll win 3-1, while Marcus Rashford – a future captain incidentally – is 3/1 favourite to score first with Anthony Martial 11/4 – and teenage sensation Mason Greenwood 11/4 to open the scoring in Cologne.

I’m reckoning it will be 3-1 too for City against Lyon in their quarter-final in Lisbon which is also 10/1. City odds-on to beat Lyon have found themselves in the much tougher half of the draw with the winners of Friday’s Barcelona-Bayern game of the round looming in the semi-finals.

Pep Guardiola’s superstars were in excellent form as they cruised past a weary Real Madrid, a team that needs an injection of new blood.

Gabriel Jesus answered his critics with an all-action display while Raheem Sterling exposed the Spanish aristocrats’ lack of pace at the back.

Betfred have City 2/1 to win the Big Ears Trophy outright with Bayern 3/1, but the money is coming in on PSG (11/2) and Atletico  Madrid (8/1) as they are the stronger teams in the easier half of the draw.

Jesus says City players and their fans have a right to start dreaming about winning the Champions League for the first time.

Well I’m dreaming that we here in Manchester will soon be celebrating an amazing Euro double for City and the Reds, thus reinforcing my long-held view that we really are the capital of world football.

Whenever you bet, Betfred
