Salisbury, Thirsk and Windsor provide Sunday’s UK action for racing fans, while over in Ireland we have a Group 1 affair to look forward to from the meeting at the Curragh, which is accompanied by an offering at Downpatrick.
The first meeting of the day comes from Wiltshire with no less than nine races on offer at Salisbury, beginning with the 12:40 and finishing with the 17:05 – the AJN Steelstock Dale Goreham’s Retirement Handicap over 1m 6f 44y.
Betfred are paying extra places in the 13:10 and the 16:00 and it looks like there could be a tight battle in the latter of those two races, between Itkaann (2/1), Cloud Drift (9/4), Hibernian Warriors (5/1) and Anglo Saxson (11/2).
We then head to North Yorkshire for nine races at Thirsk, running from 12:50 to 17:20, and Betfred are once again offering extra places in the 15:05 and the finale at 17:20, which Grand Canal is the 6/5 favourite for.
The action then heads to Berkshire for Windsor’s nine-race card, starting at 13:00 and ending with the 17:30, and the extra-place promotion comes into effect in the 14:40.
It is over to Ireland to finish off Sunday’s busy schedule with eight races taking place at the Curragh, kicking off at 14:00 with a 7f Maiden before the meet comes to a close at 17:55.
The feature race of the day takes place at 15:10, the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes. Aidan O’Brien has trained 16 previous winners of this particular Group 1 and looks to have a chance at win number 17 in the form of St Mark’s Basilica (7/1).
However, this should be a high-quality renewal and plenty look to have a chance with Royal Ascot winner The Lir Jet and Steel Bull sharing favouritism at 10/3, while Lucky Vega (5/1) and Ventura Tormenta (7/1) are not without claims.
The final meeting of the day comes from Downpatrick where there are seven races taking place, beginning at 17:20 and ending with the 17:45, and Betfred’s extra place promotion is available in the 15:30.
