Defending champion Judd Trump (9/4 2020 Betfred World Snooker Championship) has booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Betfred World Championship after edging past Yan Bingtao.
Trump trailed 5-3 ahead of returning to action on Friday but he battled back to take a 9-7 lead before the final session.
Juddernaut sealed victory in style with a break of 127 and will now face either Martin Gould or Kyren Wilson, who start their match at 10:00, in the last-eight.
Meanwhile, Ronnie O’Sullivan is embroiled in an intriguing tussle with China’s Ding Junhui with the pair tied at 4-4 after a couple of tense couple of sessions on Friday (Match Betting – Ding Junhui 11/5, Ronnie O’Sullivan 4/11).
Five-time winner O’Sullivan kicked off with a rather positive 61 but Ding reeled off the following three frames, picking up breaks of 57 and 76 along the way.
However, the Rocket came back fighting to take three consecutive frames of his own after the mid-session, including a break of 101 in the sixth frame, before Ding drew level to close out the day.
They return to action at the Crucible on Saturday with the winner set to face three-time champion Mark Williams in the quarter-finals.
Anthony McGill will look to overturn a 6-2 deficit when he resumes his tie with Jamie Clarke on Saturday, with the winner set to face fellow qualifier Kurt Maflin (14/1 2020 Betfred World Snooker Championship) in the next round.
Finally, Barry Hawkins and Neil Robertson are scheduled to get their match up-and-running at 10:00 in Sheffield.
