For the majority of big Betfred winners, it’s a case of booking a dream holiday or buying a flashy new car.
But for warehouse shift worker David Boughey, who won £75,000 from just a £3 stake, it’s all about keeping his feet on the ground.
David, 63, from Staffordshire, who hit the jackpot on the New York Lotto, said: “I like my Vauxhall Vectra, so I’m not changing that – and I like going on holiday in this country so I might just go to Cornwall.
“I don’t drink much, so I celebrated on Saturday with a cup of tea. Honestly, it takes a lot to faze me.
“I will be giving some of the money to my brother’s family, but I’m still trying to take in my good fortune.
“It’s amazing that I’ve won a life-changing amount of money for less than a pint of cider.”
David, as well as working shifts at an Amazon warehouse, was a carer for his mother Ruby, who sadly died two months ago during the pandemic.
Betfred boss Fred Done said: “Congratulations to David. He’s one of the biggest winners we’ve had this summer, and it just proves that you can win big at Betfred for, as David says, less than a pint of cider!”
