Villans have Wembley mountain to climb
It really is a case of how many will City win by this afternoon in the Carabao Cup final against Aston Villa at Wembley.
Surely the on-fire Blues will score at least four against opponents who will have one eye on Premier League survival.
It’s City’s Cup of cheer all day long for me – and four-nil for Pep Guardiola’s boys is in fact my prediction, which is 7/1 at Betfred.
That would nicely set up a cup treble for City … and that’s a 7/1 shot too!
The historic 2-1 midweek win against Real Madrid has everyone associated with the club riding a crest of a wave which I do hope doesn’t come tumbling down with the FFP controversy raging.
The big movers are not surprisingly Madrid who have drifted to 33/1 to win the Champions League outright.
Zinedine Zidane’s team looked completely out of sorts against slick City who fully deserved their first-leg advantage. Frankly City should have put the tie out of sight but even so with two away goals bagged will surely have no trouble making the last eight of Europe’s elite competition.
So to today – and I’m expecting Sergio Aguero (above) to start at Wembley and continue taking money off me by scoring the opener, which is available at a tasty 3/1.
Meanwhile I’m consoling myself by repeating that United can only beat who is up against them … and that was a tremendous morale-booster to thump Brugge five-nil at Old Trafford.
Sadly, however giddy us Reds are getting, it is as far as I’m concerned a reminder of how much further we need to improve, with City beating Real Madrid just 24 hours earlier.
United new boys Odion Ighalo and Bruno Fernandes are fitting in brilliantly as the transformation of the squad continues. We now have an injection of much-needed creativity in midfield and a battering ram of a centre forward.
