It was all change at Crewe – and that meant a £24,200 windfall for Betfred regular Mark Rymer.
The payroll consultant wagered £50 on the result of five football matches – and that both teams would score in each game.
Mark, 49, from Morden, Surrey, was spot on that Brentford would beat Middlesbrough (3-2), Coventry would win against Bolton (2-1) and that Blackpool would triumph at home against Southend (2-1).
His bet was kept alive by two further results in League Two – Exeter beating Stevenage (2-1) and Crewe’s last-gasp home victory over Oldham (2-1).
Charlie Kirk’s late winner for the Railwaymen was the very last goal of the Saturday afternoon fixtures, coming in the NINETY SEVENTH minute.
Mark said: “I was watching the results come in on my phone, but the Crewe game was taking forever. When they scored I thought ‘oh my god’ – and then there was a very painful wait until the final whistle.
“We lost our pet Shih Tzu last week, so we needed this to cheer us up. In fact, in that short time before the final whistle I kept thinking, ‘come on do it for Daisy’. Maybe I might have got a little help from beyond… you never know!
“My wife Jackie and I celebrated at home that night, and she told me what she’d like from the biggest win of my life – a Shih Tzu pup to replace Daisy and befriend our other dog, Willow.

“We’ll also be able to go on another holiday now to our favourite place, Devon, where there is plenty of space to walk our dogs.”
Betfred boss Fred Done said: “Absolutely brilliant, Mark. A victory for pooch power past and present, I reckon. They don’t call ‘em man’s best friend for nothing.”
